“ Historical reenactment is a type of role-play in which participants attempt to recreate some aspects of a historical event or period. “

   Dark Boar attempts to bring Viking history to life for the general public through representations with theatrical elements and competitive events for purposes of entertainment. Also, it is hoped that spectators will have a better experience when attending an event in which a high level of authenticity is attained in both individual clothing and equipment, as well as equipment used in Dark Boar’s camp.

   Unlike some groups who insist that new recruits act the part of the lowest class at their events for a undetermined 'trial' period, Dark Boar does not enforce any starting rank or behavior on new members. If you want to join and dress as a wealthy Thegn, this is perfectly acceptable as long as you have the right costume. Thrals are always welcome too! (please be ready fetch & carry)

   Membership is not required to participate in most of our events and we encourage all to stop by our encampment and join in group activities.  

Membership does have it’s benefits though!

   As a member, you will be gate-listed at events that we set-up our encampment at - saving you the cost of admission. You will also be able to attend any of our invitation-only events. And of course, you get to hang out with some very cool folks…us!
